JFT Esports 2024 VCT Pacific Ascension Results Recap

JFT Esports, representing Oceania at the VCT Ascension Pacific 2024, entered the tournament with a lot of expectations and excitement. For a team relatively new to the global stage, they were determined to show their growth and capability against some of the toughest competition from the Asia-Pacific region. While their overall performance displayed resilience and talent, they encountered several challenges along the way. Here's a look at their matches throughout the tournament.

Match 1: JFT Esports vs Rapid Lofi (JFT Wins 2-0)In their first match of the tournament, JFT Esports faced Rapid Lofi, a team from Vietnam known for their aggressive playstyle. JFT, however, adapted brilliantly and started their campaign with a 2-0 victory. The win was crucial, setting the tone for their tournament journey. ANDY and Murza were instrumental in leading the team to victory, with ANDY on his signature agent ISO making pivotal plays that helped the team secure key rounds.

JFT’s ability to control the pace of the match and effectively respond to Rapid Lofi's offensive tactics showcased their preparation. The team’s communication and coordination were evident, as they prevented Rapid Lofi from gaining any substantial momentum. Winning their first match gave JFT a strong boost of confidence going forward, showing they could hold their own on the international stage

Match 2: JFT Esports vs Full Sense (Full Sense Wins 2-0)In the second match, JFT found themselves up against Full Sense, a top-tier team from Thailand. Full Sense brought a wealth of experience to the table, having been a dominant force in their region. This match proved to be a tougher challenge for JFT, as they lost 13 - 8 on Ascent and then another close match 13 - 9 on Lotus. Full Sense’s disciplined approach and tactical prowess were on full display, and they leveraged map control expertly, particularly on maps like Ascent.

Despite some strong individual plays from JFT's side—especially from ANDY and Murza—Full Sense outmaneuvered JFT tactically. Full Sense’s coordination and ability to execute well-timed pushes created significant pressure on JFT, who struggled to maintain momentum throughout the match. JFT's execution faltered in critical rounds, allowing Full Sense to take the series comfortably.

Match 3: JFT Esports vs Riddle (Riddle Wins 2-0)In a lower bracket elimination match, JFT faced Riddle, a highly skilled team from Japan. This match was pivotal for JFT, as their tournament life was on the line. Despite putting up a fierce fight on map 2 Haven, JFT lost 0-2, with Riddle demonstrating superior map control and discipline. Riddle's players were able to capitalise on JFT’s minor mistakes, turning those into major advantages.

This match saw a more defensive approach from Riddle, forcing JFT to play reactively. JFT struggled to break through Riddle's defences, and while there were moments of brilliance from Murza and Kiss, it wasn’t enough to secure a win. The loss knocked JFT out of the tournament, placing them in the 5th-6th position overall
